Show Me The Money... And I'll Show You Someone Who Works Hard!

No one gets rich lazing on the beach sipping piña coladas. They might get themselves a rich tan. Or if they're not so lucky, a sunburn and a headache. But rich with money? No. Beach lazing (with frothy cocktails that require a bartender's handiwork) is for people who already have money. For those who don't – or those who are working on it – there's still the beach, but only on the occasional day off. And it's BYOB instead of a bartender. To get rich or even to make more money, it takes a lot of hard work – steady and constant work. That's just the way it is and there aren't any easy shortcuts.

But I don't need to tell you that! You already know it! Many of you are entrepreneurs so I feel like I'm preaching to the choir. You've started your own businesses and have been at it for what probably feels like decades (I think that translates to 6 or 7 years in small business owner years!). I'm sure you've learned some things along the way about wealth, success and making more money. I know I have! This week I'm sharing with you some of what I've learned, along with some quotes I really like.

Want To Make More Money? Don't Let Fear Stop You!

So... one of the most helpful, yet hard-to-follow pieces of advice I try to remember is that if you want to succeed, you can't be afraid of failure. You just can't! Nobody likes to fail; there's nothing fun about it. Failure can be expensive, embarrassing, it can really suck! Trust me, I know that too! But if you're afraid of it happening, you'll never take any risks, never try something different or pursue something that's not guaranteed. But the silver lining here is that it can also be a great learning experience. It can be humbling, which is not such a bad thing. And it can make you tougher and better able to bounce back from setbacks. The other silver lining (maybe it should be called the gold lining, though I don't think that's a thing) is that failure can ultimately lead to you making more money. This happens when your mistakes and missteps take you in a better, more profitable direction. So what starts out as a gigantic, upsetting failure could later lead you to a new project, process, product or market for your business. So while we all try to avoid failure, we should also learn to not fear it so much.
