Truly Good Advice That Goes From Workplace To Life, Day To Evening!
“Want my advice?” When someone asks that question, you know what's coming next, right? Their advice. Because whether you want it or not, they just can't help themselves. Sometimes it's not exactly welcome, as in, "I don't have kids, but you should never feed them fast food. So unhealthy." Always love hearing that one. Super helpful. Other times, there's the advice we love to hear for real. Like how to mix a fab new cocktail. Or a great hack for that stuff you just got at Ikea. Then there's the kind of life advice that sticks with you: tidbits that a friend or mentor gives at just the right time to help you re-think a tricky problem or give you a fresh perspective. This week, I'm sharing words of wisdom we can apply to our personal lives, and that can help us develop better businesses skills, too! It's a win-win!
Improving Your Business Skills, One Step At A Time!
One of the quotes I love is from Martin Luther King, Jr.: “You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” How true is that? I'm sure we can all think of times when we felt scared of the the unknowns ahead, overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work we faced, or intimidated by the possibility of failure. Feeling like that is enough to make us want to shut the door and curl up into a ball. Or maybe pour a nice stiff drink. But you can't really accomplish anything doing that. It's far better to just take the first step and tackle the first task, no matter how daunting, because if you don't start, you'll never finish. (Obviously!) Best to save the closed-door sessions for serious boss-like conversations and the stiff drinks for happy hour. Your business skills will thank you if you do!
