A few years ago, after coming home from a really awkward date – we were totally mismatched, he had awful shoes and he judged me for my love of donuts, puhleeze! – I thought I had my next great idea: a dating site for entrepreneurs. Brilliant! Why didn't I think of it before? Where better to meet someone with my same work ethic, entrepreneur motivation and busy life than a site that caters to people in business for themselves? I'd be sure to find a match made in heaven! Or at least a match. Maybe I'd hardly ever see him, cuz what are the chances of our schedules coinciding more than twice a month, but whatever. I was all fired up about my new idea.
I started writing profile questions in my head to weed out the fake entrepreneurs. Are you a risk taker? Do you thrive on routine or change? How do you feel about Mondays? How many hours of sleep do you get? Rule follower or rule breaker? Then I'd ask them to send a photo of their desk or workspace. I was sure I was on to something. Then, unbelievably, I discovered that I wasn't the first person to have this amazing idea. WHAT? Crazy! I know, hard to imagine, but someone beat me to it. Several people actually.
Entrepreneur Motivation: It's What Makes Us Love Mondays!
That someone else would want to match up entrepreneurs isn't surprising I guess. We business owners can seem like a breed unto ourselves. And maybe (I said maybe!) we might kinda, sorta once in a while be a little hard to put up with. Plus I've heard we might posses some traits that only our kind understands. (Maybe.) Sometimes those traits drive other people crazy. Like how I'm not afraid of change and can get bored easily. Or how I have a hard time slowing down, even on vacation. You say workaholic, I say "love my work." But as you know, it's these very traits that make us successful.
It's hard enough to run a business day in, day out. If you're trying to expand and grow? Good luck with that if you routinely call it a day at 5:00. You're not going to be wildly successful if you jet out the door like Fred Flintstone (Google that one, younger people). Same if you're always content with the status quo. This is where our entrepreneur motivation (try saying that 10 times fast) and our desire for something better come in handy. It's this unique motivation that sets us apart from other people who run a business. You can only possess it if the business is your baby... and was started with YOUR money!! I like to think of it as our secret weapon. It's also a good descriptor for my next dating profile: Marley – motivated entrepreneur, donut lover, must wear good shoes.
Speaking of motivation and being an entrepreneur, do you feel like you're too busy? Or like you're always working but not much is getting done? Change that chaos into cash! Your solution is right here and it's FREE!
