What's Your Vision? Get The Business You Want With Smart Goal Setting!
Every entrepreneur is something of a visionary. Aren't you? But a vision of the future isn't all you need. You've also got to have a plan. Lots of plans! Have you ever hit the end of a busy week and not a single thing on your to-do list is crossed off? Lemme guess… happens all the time? Well, say good-bye to unfinished lists and get serious about how you spend your time!
First order of business, do some smart goal setting. Review your “big picture” goals. You DO have those, don’t you? If not, make some! Pronto! Take time to think about your business, where you want it to go and what you want to accomplish in the long term. This is important! Do the same thing for the short-term. You have to define your dream, define what you want. Then you know what you’re working toward!
Next — and this is super important! — stop spending time on tasks that aren’t helping you achieve your goals! Whether it's re-evaluating your company's mission, or setting boundaries for your client relationships, or tracking daily expenses... everything you do should be aligned with your vision. Keep your vision in mind every day and you can have the business you dreamed of when you first decided to venture out on your own!
All This Talk Of Goals Makes Me Think Of Soccer! GOAAAAAL!!!
Maybe you can shout that the next time you accomplish an important to-do item! This week, we've got a roundup of quotes from some of my favorite authors (including yours truly!) to help you focus on setting goals. My good friend, Nicole Matthews, wrote a great book – Permission – about how giving yourself permission to live the life you want is the first step to finding your best future! In Shawn Achor's book, Before Happiness, he shows how a positive mindset is the best predictor of motivation and performance in the workplace. And The Richest Woman in America, by Janet Wallach, tells about the life of Hetty Green who was a resilient pioneer for women in business worth millions (which today would translate to BILLIONS!!!) at the end of her life.
I'll say it forever...everyone is so proud of being so "busy"...But Are You Making Any Money? Don't be too busy to focus! Set smart goals and your business will benefit!
