Are you a small business owner? Small business coach Marley Majcher shares quotes and tips from some of her favorite authors to guide you to success.
Are you a small business owner? Let's talk philosophy!
Running your own business can be tough going sometimes. Do you have days when you question your decisions? Everyone does, right? But you get to do it with the added weight of knowing that so much rides on you making good decisions: your company’s profitability, its actual survival, your employees’ jobs. You know, minor stuff like that! Oh, the joys of being a small business owner! So when you get distracted by your daily workload, it’s easy to let your concerns and busywork overtake your thoughts. Before you know it, that's all you can think about!
Ever feel like you don't have time to think about how you run your business or your overall philosophy? Well, it's time to change that! Work into your daily routine a little reflection time. Yeah right, you're saying! OK, I don't mean you need to pull out the yoga mat and meditate in your office while people are lined up outside your door waiting for you to finish. But you do need to make a point of reflecting on where you'd like your business to go and how you're going to get there. A little big picture thinking sprinkled with some positive thoughts can help.
If you're a small business owner, read on!
To help you focus on your daily reflections of being a small business owner, we've got a roundup of quotes from some of my favorite authors. My good friend, Nicole Matthews, wrote a great book – Permission – about how giving yourself permission to live the life you want is the first step to finding your best future! In Shawn Achor's book, Before Happiness, he shows how a positive mindset is the best predictor of motivation and performance in the workplace. The Richest Woman in America, by Janet Wallach, tells about the life of Hetty Green who was a resilient pioneer for women in business worth millions (which today would translate to BILLIONS!!!) at the end of her life. Also, take a look at Stats & Curiosities from Harvard Business Review.
I'll say it forever...everyone is so proud of being so "busy"...But Are You Making Any Money? Don't be too busy to focus! Know where your business stands and you'll be in better shape to move forward!
