Passion + Worthy cause = Winner!

Passion + Worthy cause = Winner!

Nicholas Dodson, a fellow Hoya, has combined his passion for entrepreneurship and a worthy cause with ZoLa, a socially responsible clothing line called "Underdog Polo" that supports animal rescue shelters. Inspired by his rescue dogs Zoe and Lani, Nicholas and his wife Jordan launched this venture to give other animals a second chance at life. To grow their business, they’ve turned to crowdfunding, where supporters can contribute and earn rewards while helping both an entrepreneur and homeless dogs. There’s nothing quite like watching an idea bloom into a full blown business.  Mix in some passion and a worthy cause – and you’ve got a winner. That is the case with ZoLa. It is the mixture of the names of two sweet rescue mutts. I will explain in a moment. First, let me introduce you to Nicholas Dodson. I first met Nicholas last year at Georgetown University (my Alma Mater). He was competing in  the “Hoya Challenge” for entrepreneurs.

His passion and his idea won us over. ZoLa is a socially responsible clothing line that benefits animal rescue shelters. The brand is aptly named “Underdog Polo”. The dogs behind the name are Zoe and Lani. Their lives were full of abuse and neglect before Nicholas and his wife Jordan rescued them. That experience moved them both and was the catalyst for this new company.

But as is always the case – they need money to grow. So they have turned to crowdfunding. You can support it with 1, 10, 20, 50, 100 dollars – or more if you feel so moved to do so. Check out their page. You can even earn some fun rewards for your donation. You’re helping an entrepreneur build a new business and helping homeless dogs get a new “leash on life” (pun intended)

Help out my fellow HOYA and give a pup a chance. To donate or learn more about ZoLa, check out www.igg.me/at/wearzola
