Overcoming Challenges Not Your Thing? Try This!
Entrepreneur & small business genius Marley Majcher shares some of her favorite quotes and suggestions for overcoming challenges and dealing with problems.
Do You Love A Good Challenge? Or Would You Rather Just Not Deal?
Last week I talked about believing in yourself and being your own cheerleader. (Yeah for you! Remember?) That little pep talk — and the fact that business is still quiet — has got me in a pensive mood. But not in a bad way! I'm just using this lull to be philosophical. It's hard to do that when you're running at full steam and being pulled in 12 directions at once. And when summer's over, that's what's gonna happen. Who has time to be pensive (or even use intellectual words like that) when you're crazy busy?! So this week, I've got overcoming challenges on the brain. We all have challenges, and we all have to deal with them regularly, like it or not. Most of the time, you probably deal pretty well. Congrats to you!
But what about those other times? You know, when problems seem huge and you don't know where to begin. The days you'd rather just stay home. Or hide in your office. Maybe get to happy hour super early! (Or have happy hour super early while hiding in your office. How's that for multitasking?) Yes, those days. Well here are a few suggestions for dealing with problems and overcoming challenges when your brain doesn't want to deal.
Advice For Overcoming Challenges
- Embrace change! Often it can lead to a better end, even if it's one you don't know about yet!
- Ask for help! Surround yourself with people who can help you. You probably know lots of smart people. Pick their brains once in a while and see what good ideas they have.
- Allow yourself to make mistakes! If you're so afraid of making mistakes that you become paralyzed, you'll end up doing nothing. Don't be so afraid of failure that you can't make decisions.
- Take a step back to see the big picture — or to look at things from a different angle. This is the "You can't see the forest for the trees" analogy. Sometimes you need a new point of view and a new path to get where you're going.
- Be flexible! This one is huge. There's no one-approach-fits-all when it comes to problems. Being flexible can save you a lot of time and a ton of frustration.
