Be Productive Even When It’s Summer Slow Mode!
Small biz expert & coach Marley Majcher offers ways to stay productive and get ahead of the competition during the summer months.
Summer is here and let's face it, productivity probably isn't at the top of your list. I totally get it, the whole world (at least on Facebook!) seems to be out sunning in the South of France and you're stuck at your desk. Want a way to cheer yourself up? Accomplish something amazing and then reward yourself with an even better vacation down the road!
1. Be realistic. How much mojo do you really have to accomplish a ton right now? If summer is when your energy wanes, embrace the natural cycle. I'm not saying that you should totally check out, but there's nothing wrong with clearly defining a time to check out (especially from tech!) to recharge your batteries.
2. Take advantage of the season. I have OFTEN cleaned up (business-wise, NOT remotely on the housekeeping front) during summer months when my competition might be a little slower to respond to potential clients. Just because it "feels" like no one is working, doesn't mean they aren't. Use it as a time to up your game or respond faster.
3. Spring cleaning in July! I use summer's slightly slower pace to get projects done that I can’t get a handle on during the rush and gush of regular life, to do things like clean out the warehouse, pitch stuff we no longer need, relabel boxes, and get a lot more efficient.
4. Take advantage of the labor pool! There are PLENTY of kids who are looking to make money and even the little ones home for the summer can be at good sitting in front of the shredding machine!
